Though removing the doorbell
from your door or wall is not a difficult thing, but you need to remove
two components: the bell and the button on the outside front door
frame.
After you have removed both components, the wires will remain in the
wall and door frame. And you need to repair the holes in the wall and
door frame after you have removed the button and the bell. Do not be
worried about removing the doorbell and anyone can complete this job
without prior experience and with no major tools.
Things You Need
Screw driver
Electrical tape
Instructions
1. Turn off the electrical breaker which is wired to the doorbell in
order to disconnect the electrolytic current. Then go to your doorbell
and doorbell button.
2. Remove the cover panel from the bell by pulling it off of the
bell’s frame. Use the screwdriver to remove the screws that are securing
the frame to the wall. Loosen the wire connections and pull the wires
from the connectors.
3. Positive and negative wires from each other on the ground. Then
take out the Electrical tape and place the tape around the exposed
wires. Push the wires back into the wall. Make sure that the wires are
completely covered to avoid fire.
4. Remove the screws that are securing the doorbell button to the
outside door frame. Loosen the wire connections and pull the wires from
the button. Place electric tape around the tips of each wire as you did
for the bell wires, and pushes them back into the wall.
5. A wall patch kit from your local home repair store will have
everything that you’ll need to repair the hole left in the wall where
the doorbell was. The store should also have a patch kit for the
exterior door frame.
Tips & Warnings
Not properly concealing the exposed wires with electric tape will
result in a fire once the electricity is turned back on if the wires
touch each other.
