Something About Christmas Presents

Christmas today is nearly synonymous with presents exchange festival. Both Christians and non-Christians like to celebrate this festival. And all of them will gather together and exchanging gifts during Christmas time. Christmas presents today have evolved into the main profit generator for retail businesses instead of the old-timey humble beginnings of homemade sweets.

History
When talking about the history about Christmas, we need to mention about St. Nicholas, a wealthy philanthropist born late in the third century. He was so generous with children, the most famous legend being that he gave three girls a dowry of gold to enable them to marry. Except the legend about St. Nicholas, people also give gifts on Christmas to represent the gifts of the three Magi to the baby Jesus upon his birth.
Theories
The oldest theory about the origin of Christmas presents can date back to ancient Rome. There was a pagan festival called Saturnalia. Their festivities began in December and concluded at the start of January. It was said that all Romans would visit each other for celebrations, and exchange gifts as an offering of good luck during the festival.
Geography
Nowadays, people keep the Christmas presents traditions all around the world. In France, children place their shoes, instead of stockings, by the fireplace to be filled by Santa. And in Belgium, the primary gift exchange happens on December 6, the feast day of St. Nicholas. Italy exchange Christmas gifts even further, with their exchanges taking place on January 6, the day traditionally celebrated for the arrival of the three wise men.
Prevention
To some people who are not so rich, shopping for Christmas presents can create stress as well as a financial burden. In order to reduce the stresses, many smart people shop the Christmas gifts throughout the year instead of shopping all the gifts during Christmas time. You can also lower costs by setting a price limit for those presents and making homemade gifts and treats rather than purchasing frivolous items.
